In 2020, the City of Bellflower Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments started planning a new community center that would bring two generations together and energize the existing Simms Park. In collaboration with the design team, Pretty Smart, this 12,000 sf new construction was designed for an all day, seven day a week program that balances the various needs and activities of Bellflower Youths and Seniors. The large common area and three community rooms with commercial kitchen are designed for flexibility but also to accommodate a wide range of community programs while also housing the Parks and Recreation Administrative offices.
